Hey! its chase just wanted to say this is so cool that you have your own blog. ive alwasy wanted one but never knew what to write about. you do though. its really awesome. i just had a question on how you became a model. my sister wants to one super bad. she just doesnt know where to start. she is a big fan of people making it big in life. You are her inspiration and romodel. have a great weekend!

    • I really don’t even know how to properly respond to this. You two are the sweetest girls, and I can’t say thank you enough. Hearing what you have to say makes not only my day, but makes me realize why I live the way I do. If I can be a role model to your sister, and make her day then that surely makes my days so much better. If you or her want to get into modeling all you have to do is start getting in contact with agencies. You just need to visit their websites and they usually will describe what kind of pictures you need to submit. It’s sort of like trying out! You don’t have to spend money on pictures, you can just take them in your house with your own digital camera. If you ever want to talk or have any questions, I’m here 🙂 Thanks again!

      • chase Doyle says:

Thanks do much for the imformation! sorry it took me so long to relpy back. I will look into that for her. I did have a question though. Have you ever herard of a modeling/acting agency called barbizon. They came to our school and had us fill out a paper for a scholarship and asked us if we wanted to model. if yes then they would call. If you know anything could you please tell me. Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

        • Lomax says:

Well Barbizon is kind of a scam, they just make you pay a lot to be a “model” but they don’t do anything for you! Definitely don’t do that, I highly recommend you try something else. Let me know if there are any other ways I can help!

        • Chase doyle says:

Do you really think you have to be super tall to be a good model. In my opinion if you have the talent then people ahould let you show it. Do u think so? from your point of view? I dont really tell people this but it has alwasy been a thought of mine. I love the show americas next top model. I got an idea one day in class when we had to write about livimg life while your young and came up iwith this. What is there was a show that was just like that but for teen girls. What do u think? It would give them a chance to live live young and become a great model because they would learn from the best. you know?

          • Kate says:

I don’t think you have to be super tall…it depends who you model for and what kind of aspects they are looking for. I’m pretty sure there is such thing as petite modeling…

          • Lomax says:

In general yes, all models are tall. There is a super small niche for petite models, and really that’s next to nothing when you look at the entire industry.

  2. Maryn Worhacz says:

Hey, this may seem kind of out of the blue but i attend Mountain Ridge & have heard about how far you have come with your work. I think its so cool how much you have accomplished already at a young age. I am also interested in modeling, and have a few questions on how to get started. What agency would you suggest to apply for, and how should i go about doing it? Thanks in advance 🙂
    – Maryn

    • Lomax says:

That isn’t out of the blue, it’s a question and one I don’t mind answering!
First, thank you so much for the compliment I love hearing that people admire it because I’ve worked really hard.
Second, for Arizona markets I would suggest submitting to The Agency Az or Ford Robert Black. You can type either of those agencies into google and their websites will come up. Basically you just need to send simple pictures to the agencies to see if they would be interested. I’m with the Agency Az and they are amazing and have helped send me all over the country!
If you have any more questions feel free to ask 🙂
      Have a great week!

    • Lomax says:

You are so sweet! You just made my week for saying all of that, they are the best compliments anyone could receive. Just don’t give up, keep looking through magazines and putting the pictures all over your room; that’s what I do, I have piles of magazines and I make collages out of the pictures. I hope that one day people will be able to do the same and I’ll be the one in the pictures in the amazing magazines. I will definitely tell Breanne you said hi! Have a great week, and if you ever want to chit chat feel free to find me on facebook or something and I will be here for you 🙂

First off.. you are absolutely adorable! I am a big fan of your blog and have been for a while. I just read your post titled “2010,” the one where you talk about not being like “normal” kids your age.. what is “normal,” anyway? normal is boring! Not too long ago I felt the exact same way as you. I had never been to a “normal” school, only small private schools and a performing arts high school. I didn’t go out on the weekends like “normal” teenagers. Instead I spent the majority of my time at dance class and dance rehearsals, or with my family. I had a few really good friends, not like a huge group of people whom I just called my friends. I spent most of my time at dance, so my dance friends were pretty much my only friends. I never felt normal, and I always wished that I was. All I wanted was to be normal. When it came to choosing what college I wanted to go to it was between a small arts school in California or U of A. I chose U of A and was excited because for once I was going to have the chance to go to normal school! Now that I have been through one semester I have come to realize that I don’t want to be “normal.” I don’t regret choosing U of A, I am more than thrilled with my choice, but even in a normal school I don’t feel normal… but I am perfectly okay with it. Yea I go out more than I did before, and I have met TONS of new friends being in a sorority, but still I don’t go out as often as everyone else and the most important people to me are my close friends who were my friends before I was “normal.”

I’m not sure why I am telling you this.. but I just felt like you should know that you are not alone in feeling that way. I’m like you in the way that I know exactly what I want to do, and have big plans for my future that I absolutely refuse to not achieve. I don’t plan on using college as just four more years to party before entering the real world, I plan on making this year an amazing year. You are living proof that a lot can happen in a year. Like you said in one of your posts, doing a little something every day that brings you a step closer to your future goals (obviously not those exact words, but you get the gist) Seeing the success you have achieved with what started off as a simple blog is inspiring 🙂 keep doing what you are doing and I wish you luck in everything you hope to do. Congratulations on being featured on TeenVogue, that’s amazing! You seriously deserve it, you have amazing style. Don’t worry about people who hate on you for talking about it, they are just to “normal” to appreciate hard work 😉

    Taylor M. Grewe

    • Lomax says:

Taylor you are so sweet! Thank you so much about all of the compliments about my work on this blog 🙂 And I love how you think, being “normal” is boring and who wants to be like everyone else anyways? I loved your response not only because it was so detailed and kind, but because I had the perception that you were what you call the “perfect” social person. Sounds silly I know but people always see others in certain ways and to me you seem like the girl who has so many friends and all of these plans all the time. Hearing that you feel the way I kind of do about high school and college is really enlightening! I already thought you were an awesome person, and now I’m pretty much certain of it 🙂

Have a fabulous day Taylor! Hope we chit chat soon!

  5. Anonymous (sorry I would like to tell u my name but I don't want others to know it... hope you understand :P) says:

YOU ARE MY IDOL!!!!! (i just wanted to begin with that)

HI I’m Anonymous and I am 13 going on 14 🙂 I just wanted to say that being from Arizona as well and I’m pretty sure from the same area because your garage looks exactly like mine 😛 that I think its so inspiring that you were able to just let go of the normal high school experience and go for what you actually love, which is fashion. My sister introduced this blog to me and I have been coming here to see what I could do to become more influenced in fashion. When I came into 5th grade I started watching toddlers in tiaras (yes, I know its a weird show) and I began to ask my mom about pageants and make-up and all things beauty and fashion. Then she took me to sephora and I went crazy and now Im 13 and have four different make-up palettes and two make-up bags. I had all of these things before my friends even knew what eyeliner or mascara was. They all come to me (I’m not bragging) for beauty advice and tips and usually they ask me to do their make-up. So now I am set with make-up. Thennnnn I was in 6th and allowed to go to the mall by myself and I had still an interest in fashion and pageants and modeling all that jazz. I began to shop at forever 21 and I watched a video for their kids section (heritage 81 kids) and there were girls my age prancing around in THE CUTEST OUTFITS….. well for 12 yr olds. That began my desperate need to become a model. Then I found this blog and my search continues.

I have always been extremely skinny and I have been called anorexic and kids spread rumors about me being anorexic as well. All of my friends are curvy and bootilicious when I hardly have a butt at all. This is one reason why when I look at models with small breasts and small butts that I feel like that is one way I can show people up and be like ” yeah thats right I’m a marc jacobs model and your not”. The only problem is my sister and mom are only 5 6″ which probably means I will be too. So I read some of your replies to people about agencies and the height min. is 5 8″. Being that I am a teenager and only 5 4″ i was upset and to become a full model you have to be 5 8″ which made me cryyyyyy. So in heels I am 5 6″ ….i think. So after all this typing(sadly) I am going to ask, to be measured height wise do you have to be 5 8″ in heels or just normally. I already know the answer but I just wanted to ask.

You truly are inspiring and thanks to you I’m starting to collect fashion magazines!!! Which is a small step toward my dream. Thanks for reading! You rock!

Hi Lauren 🙂 Have you decided what college you will be attending next year?

    • Lomax says:

Unfortunately I’m stuck going to ASU because I have a full ride there. But I’m going for one semester and then modeling/traveling for two years before I return.

    • Lomax says:

      Hi Annie!

  12. Jesse Wes says:

Keep at it Lauren, pronounced like Ralph Lauren. Congrats on all your accomplishments. I assure more will come. Inspiring is one of the few attributes you allow the world to have.

  13. Erika says:

Hey Lauren! If I remember correctly, you were in the Arizona Foothills Face of Foothills competition last year. So was I! Your picture always stood out to me! As weird as that probably sounds… Haha I’m so glad to see someone from Arizona make it as far as you have. Sometimes its hard to realize that there is so much more out there, when it often seems like there isn’t much here as far as modeling goes. I have so much respect for you and I love your blog! Congrats on all the amazing things you’ve accomplished 🙂

  14. Kendra says:

I am OBSESSED with your blog. It is fabulous. You have an amazing eye for fashion and you are stunning! I was wondering how you created your blog? What website did you do it through? I am extremely passionate about fashion, as well and would love to start up a blog!

  15. Krys Newman says:

I just wanted to say congratulations for everything! I know we haven’t talked since 8th grade or so but it looks like you’re doing really well for yourself and you deserve it. Keep up the good work!

  16. annie says:

I am such a fan and I want to get into modeling! The only issue is my measurements. My hip measurements are off by 1 inch! They are 35 inches. DO you have any tips to loose inches off hips? THANKS!

  17. Paige says:

What kind of makeup do you wear?? You always look beautiful!

    • Lomax says:

Thanks Paige! And I wear tinted moisturizer along with a powder to set it from Bobbi Brown! And then my bronzer is also from Bobbi Brown and my blush is Chanel light pink tweed, my mascara is inimitable by Chanel as well. I think that sums up the basics 🙂

  18. Emma Greenebaum says:

Im only 13 but I LOVE your blog. I really want to get into fashion and start a blog. I am a fashion maniac. I constantly look at your blog and about 5 other blogs to get inspiration and decide what exactly I want to do. Could you recommend a few of your favorite blogs similar to yours so I can get more inspiration?
Thanks for your time- I understand your busy!

    Congrats! It’s awesome!

  20. Haley says:

Hi Lauren! I am absolutely obsessed with your blog! I follow you on instagram too! I was wondering if you had any advice on how to break into the fashion industry and any advice on how to be successful in the industry? Not exactly modeling but just in general I guess! Thank you!!

  21. Angela says:

What are some of your favorite blogs to follow?

  22. E.B says:

Hi! I am an aspiring photographer, and I just wanted to let you know that I really LOVE the photos your boyfriend took of you! There’s something really natural about them, not fake or anything, and with a great use of color!
I love your blog, it’s going to be my new obsession! Hope to see you in teen vogue again in the future!

  23. Alex Bishop says:

    Hey Lauren!
So, I found you through Kelly. I am in the same year as Megan, and had classes with both of them. I just wanted to tell you a couple things. First, you truly inspire me! It is so refreshing seeing someone our age have such a passion for something they love. 🙂 I am the same way with children, as I want to be a early childhood teacher. But, it’s so common nowadays that young adults have no clue what they want to do. (Even though I may feel that way now and again.)

Second, I work at a popular consignment store in Arcadia, and after reading your blog for a year, I can tell you, girl, you have educated me in fashion! Damn! There are so many designers I had never known until you! Haha and now I am so educated, and teach everyone else at our store!

But you’re seriously so awesome. I love following you on twitter, and Facebook. 🙂 and of course, regularly checking life without tanlines!

    Xoxo, Alex.

    • Lomax says:

      Hi Alex,

First, that’s wonderful you want to work with kids — you must be an amazing person because I surely do not have the patience! Haha. Second, so great you know Kelly and Megan! Love the Mittendorfs! Third, that’s so funny you’ve been teaching people at the store. Glad to know I’m contributing!

And finally, thank you for all your kind words! Definitely makes blogging worthwhile.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend,

  24. Laurel says:

First of all, I looooove your blog and think you are the sweetest person ever! I am 5’11” also and want to pursue a career in modeling. I was just wondering around how much do agencies want their models to weigh? And how do you manage to stay so thin (exercise and diet wise)? Thank you very much!

    • Lomax says:

You are too kind — thank you Laurel! Agencies generally ask for measurements versus weight. The typical measurements for bust, waist, and hips are 32-24-34. They can vary a few inches depending on the market. I just try to be healthy — a lot of it I owe to my body’s natural disposition to just be the size it is. I wish I could take credit for that! Hope this helps!

  25. Carmen says:

hi lauren!! My name is Carmen ,i’m seventeen and i’m spanish . I’m a big fan of you, i have been following your blog since last year and i think you are beatiful and i love your style as well:)
I am totally obsessed with fashion, it’s my passion ,actually i want to study something related with it in the future .
You have inspired me , and i want to start my own fashion blog , i was wondering if you colud tell me how you started yours and the webpage you used to create it.
sorry if there is any spelling mistakes haha

    • Lomax says:

Hi Carmen! So happy to hear you want to start a blog. I recommend starting one on WordPress, that’s what I use and it is wonderful. I recommend thinking of a name for your blog that relates back to you personally! That makes it a bit more special! Good luck 🙂

  26. Emma says:

    Hi Lauren!
Just curious if you still check your LWT email? Also, I’m 5’6″. Is that bad if I’m looking to model one day?
    Thank you!

  27. Cami says:

Hi Lauren! I just wanted to say I am a huge fan! I think you are incredibly talented and gorgeous! I was wondering if you had any advice on getting internships in the fashion industry. I understand you have interned for style.com and now you intern for Teen Vogue! I think that is absolutely incredible, especially for such a young age! Also, what is your dream career?

    • Lomax says:

You’re too sweet Cami, thank you! I think the best advice I could give is don’t be afraid to just start contacting people and making connections. It seems difficult I know, but I managed to do so from the suburbs of Arizona with my computer so you definitely can as well! I would say my dream career is being the senior editor for the editorial department of a fashion magazine.

  28. Zayary says:

    Hi Lauren! 😀
I’ve been addicted to your blog since I saw you on the page of Teen Vogue! I get so many fashion inspirations from you! I’m about to begin college in the fall, CSUFullerton to be exact, about 15 mins away from LA, I’m going in trying to get a major in Business, Entrepreneurship, and I was wondering what you did to get an intern at Teen Vogue? Like what paths did you take? My dream is to become a buyer for a major fashion store, Marc Jacobs for example, or a stylist for celebrities. I really want an intern anywhere related to fashion. Thank you! 😀
